We had a group discussion about the good points and bad points of dialects.

Comments from students: N

I got to know about dialects in detail. I usually use Iyo dialect, but I heard the word “Namoshi” (Iyo dialect) for the first time. Considering this, I thought that dialects are slowly fading. I want to treasure my dialect and hope to spread the usage of dialects. Now is the time to do that because nowadays people are less likely to consider dialects as rusticated. I want to value the tradition from long time ago and avoid them to be destroyed. I really love Iyo dialect! I want to keep on using Iyo dialect positively.

Comments from students: K

I became interested in all kinds of dialects. Also, I would like to look into dialects myself. The theme of today’s group discussions were dialect’s good and bad points, and how to appeal to them, and I think these are worrisome problems for people living in Ehime prefecture. I was very surprised to learn that we are still using words from the Nara period. I want to look into words that have been used for a long time.

Comments from students: I

Today’s lecture was about dialects, and the theme was very easy to relate. I think dialects are cultures that have been passed down in its region. I think if everybody spoke in the same manner, the characteristics of each region would fade away. That’s why I feel that we have to be the successors of dialects to protect and preserve our hometown ’s irreplaceable dialects.

A ‘Iyo-education’ class in the theme of “The mystery and enjoyment of words ~Iyo’s dialect and culture~ “ &nb … [Read more…]

[14

0":"entry","1":"post","2":"publish","3":"author-sgh","4":"post-9113","6":"format-standard","7":"category-news
["GET
