{"id":8867,"date":"2015-11-09T13:07:49","date_gmt":"2015-11-09T04:07:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hi.ehime-u.ac.jp\/sgh\/pages\/?p=8867"},"modified":"2015-11-27T13:28:03","modified_gmt":"2015-11-27T04:28:03","slug":"special-lecture-%e2%80%9cthe-eu-comes-to-your-school%e2%80%9d-was-held-on-november-9th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hi.ehime-u.ac.jp\/sgh\/pages\/?p=8867","title":{"rendered":"Special lecture \u201cThe EU Comes to Your School\u201d was held on November 9th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mr. Georgios Stilianopoulos, Deputy Head of Mission of Embassy of Greece in Japan, visited Fuzoku Senior High School to give a presentation on the EU and his country under \u201cThe EU Comes to Your School\u201d project. \u00a0Mr. Georgios Stilianopoulos taught the story and motto of EUand how EU relates to the world with display images.\u00a0 We learned the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) had been established after the Second World War in order to stop wars happening again, and they decided that Member States should no longer run their own coal and steel industries, instead, these industries should be organized by people from all the countries involved.\u00a0 ECSC worked for peaceful purposes and helped to rebuild Europe from the ruins of the war, and it led to the European Economic Community (EEC) and the European Union (EC).\u00a0 EU tries to make life better in all sorts of ways.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Georgios Stilianopoulos told us about his country Greece with some images of beautiful landscapes and historical architecture.\u00a0 He taught us that it is said that Greece is the source of the European culture and many words of European language are derived from Greek.<\/p>\n<p>In the question and answer time, there were many questions about EU from students, like that \u201cWhat is the condition of participation to EU?\u201d, \u201cWhy do the time it takes to admit to EU participation depend on the country?\u201d, \u201cWhy is it possible that one country is admitted to EU at one time and many countries are admitted to EU at one time?\u201d and so on.\u00a0 And Mr. Georgios Stilianopoulos answered them politely one by one.
